The Psychological Support Office of the Technical University of Crete offers you the opportunity for self-assessment through the General Self-Efficacy Scale by Schwarzer & Jerusalem. This tool is based on Albert Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory and is one of the most widely recognized instruments internationally for measuring psychological resilience.
What is Self-Efficacy? According to Bandura, self-efficacy refers to an individual’s belief in their ability to organize and carry out the actions required to manage future situations. It does not concern the skills you possess, but rather your belief in what you can achieve with those skills, significantly influencing performance, motivation, and perseverance.
Instructions:
Please respond to the 10 statements by selecting the degree to which each statement represents you.
There are no right or wrong answers.
Results:
Low Self-Efficacy (10-24): You may feel that difficulties overwhelm you or that you lack control over situations. Self-efficacy is dynamic and can be strengthened with appropriate support.
Moderate Self-Efficacy (25-34): You are close to the international average. You have a satisfactory level of confidence in your abilities, although certain challenges may occasionally unsettle you.
High Self-Efficacy (35-40): You possess a strong belief in your ability to manage obstacles and unexpected situations. This attitude acts as a protective factor against stress.
This self-assessment tool is intended exclusively for informational and educational purposes. The result provides an indicative representation of your personal perception at the present time and does not constitute a psychological diagnosis or clinical evaluation.
Completion of the questionnaire is anonymous, and the data are not stored in a way that allows for your identification. Use of this tool does not replace professional counseling or psychotherapy. If you feel that you are experiencing intense anxiety, emotional distress, or difficulties that affect your daily life, we encourage you to contact the psychologist of the Equal Accessibility Unit or the Counselling & Psychological Support Office of the Technical University of Crete directly to schedule a personal appointment.
